Birth of the World

Introduction

Birth of the World is a new design studio creating poetic images and identities through movement and time. Founded by Chris Rypkema in 2025, the studio produces thoughtful motion design for brands and cultural organizations.

Chris Rypkema is a design director based in New York City, working in visual identity, communication design, and motion. He has contributed to projects for global fashion houses, major museums, independent design studios, and leading tech and media companies. Chris has taught at Parsons School of Design, the School of Visual Arts, and Rutgers University, and has recently been a visiting critic at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Previously, he was an art director at the Museum of Modern Art and a designer at 2×4. He received his MFA from the Yale School of Art.
